07' Super-Glide Custom, stock engine
I have a question about the engine light --to be clear I mean the yellow engine icon which pops up on the display when turn ignition to on and run switch to on. I know the light is supposed to display for four seconds while the fuel is priming. After I start the engine, the light immediately comes on and stays on for 10 seconds, then goes away. I'm seeing, hearing, and feeling no noticeable problems, but the light coming on is worrying me. I went to the HD shop and asked the guy at the service desk about it, and he said it was totally normal. I'm worried he was thinking I was talking about the light that comes on before you start the engine. I read through the manual, which I finally got, and I didn't catch anything about that light coming or staying on after you start the engine. It has been doing this for at least a week. Please help. Thanks, guys! |

It's totally normal, don't worry about it. I've seen it on dozens of newer HDs and they were all fine. I think they've put so many sensors etc. on the bike that it takes a while for the CPU to poll them all and get a status. Just a guess, but I am sure your light is no problemo. Nice bike, BTW.

Thanks, man! I've been giving the ol' sensor light a worried stare-down for the past few weeks. I'm glad I can put my heart at ease.

Super-Glides are great bikes! I had mine set up with a Memphis Shades removable windshield and some throwever leather saddlebags. I could gear it up for weekend touring in 30 minutes and then strip it down to bar-hopper when I got back. Post a photo sometime.

That might cause a "real" fault - Black Tape cures all ills.

On my'08 the light comes on for a few seconds when I turn the ignition on then goes out after the self check. It does not come back on after that whether I start the engine or not. If it was me, I'd go back and say sorry but could you look at this and have him stand there and watch the whole process. It may well be nothing but I'd want to be dam* sure before I ignored it.
