Default H-D Helmet Check

MOTORCYCLISTS REMINDED that April is ‘Check Your Helmet Month’
Harley-Davidson Encourages Motorcyclists to Get Their Helmets Ready for Riding

MILWAUKEE (March 27, 200 – As the motorcycle riding season gets fired up around the country, now is the time to make sure helmets are ready for riding. During April’s “Check Your Helmet Month” and throughout the year, motorcycle enthusiasts are reminded to follow a few simple rules to make sure their helmets are ready for summer riding:
  • Fit is vital – a helmet must fit properly to be effective, and not all helmets fit the same. A good fitting helmet should rest one inch above your eyebrows and shouldn’t roll forward or sideways on your head. To ensure a comfortable fit, wear a helmet for 15 minutes before making a final buying decision.
  • They don’t last forever – manufacturers and the SNELL Foundation recommend helmets be replaced every three to five years, depending on use. Glues, resins and other helmet materials break down over time and can make a helmet less effective. Every new Harley-Davidson helmet comes with a “purchased on date” sticker that can be placed under the comfort liner for a quick reference.
  • Keep it clean – a clean and well cared for helmet will protect better and longer. Use a mild soap to wash the outer shell and internal liners. Never use solvents or chemicals for cleaning as they can destroy protective coatings.
  • Mirrors are not hangers – hanging a helmet on a motorcycle’s mirror can damage the impact absorbing liner inside.

A Helmet Designed for Women
Harley-Davidson recently released the Skyline Helmet, the first and only helmet designed specifically for ladies who love to ride. The Skyline has a deeper cavity to provide a better fit, 3D-type comfort padding with removable and interchangeable pads for a custom fit, a notch for a pony-tail and an anti-static liner to keep hair smooth.

Who to Ask?
Harley-Davidson dealers can work to find the right helmet and fit for every rider. Harley-Davidson carries a range of helmet styles including half, three-quarter, full-face and modular helmets, and dealers can provide even more detail with “The Heads-Up on Helmets” brochure.

In addition to the information provided by MotorClothes Specialists at local dealerships, consumers can visit Country Selector for detailed information about helmet styles, components, fit, care and replacement, as well as check out the selection of helmets offered by Harley-Davidson. This information can also be accessed in the Helmet Guide section at Harley-Davidson.

Harley-Davidson Motor Company, the only major U.S.-based motorcycle manufacturer, produces heavyweight motorcycles and a complete line of motorcycle parts, accessories and general merchandise. For more information, visit Harley-Davidson's Web site at Country Selector.

Although it's a little late if your bucket has been sitting or hanging unused for the Winter, here is a cleaning tip I learned from the ARAI guy at the IMS a few years ago.

Wash the inside of the hat with baby shampoo. As the guy pointed out, hair oil and sweat is what you are after. If the liner is removeable, take it out and wash it, and then wash the hat.

Give the hat a couple of days to dry. Living in the steamy South, it can take forever for things to completely dry, even in A/C spaces. I usually sit my full-face helmet on its side, and direct a fan at it. It drys fairly quickly that way.

Replace every 3 years? LOL! Typical advice from helmet manufacturers. Is that three years from when you bought it or do you have to add in the 4 years it's been sitting on the shelf?

In the 10 reddest states, in which Bush got more than 60 percent majorities, the average percentage of personal income donated to charity was 3.5. Residents of the bluest states, which gave Bush less than 40 percent, donated just 1.9 percent. So much for left wing compassion.

Can someone tell me why God (the almighty) needs money? IE red state Charity... Sorry just cant get myself to respond to another helmet thread and I feel like stirring something up. Happy Friday!

"If you hate Bush because of 4,000 combat deaths in Iraq then you must be ready to execute the entire medical profession since they kill 195,000 per year by mistake. On top of that since Mar 2003 when the Iraq War started 85,000 Americans have been murdered by other Americans and 165,000 have been murdered by themselves. Puts things in a new perspective doesn't it? Of all the Presidents he most closely resembles LBJ; another idiot whose screwups will echo for decades to come."

What are you trying to do to me here? I start a perfectly delusional rant and you go and change your tag to another rant issue of mine. My wife survived a ruptured appendix surgery perfectly only to have the nursing staff attempt to kill her two days later with a Morphine overdose. As more statistics are showing, don't worry about the surgery, worry about the recovery. In my wife's case someone was kind enough to come into her room, and change her on demand morphine to a nice steady drip, undocumented. The next day they tortured her in another manor. After giving her the IV antibiotics they refused to give her the antinausia medicaton via the same IV. So while she threw up for 2 hours with fresh abdominal surgury they were poking her everywhere trying to get a second IV started. After two hours they gave up and finally gave her the shot in the old IV. After those two hours she looked like a life long junkie with needle marks from her hands to her shoulders on both arms. Honestly I dont know how I'm not writing this from prison... ($70,000 for services rendered)

My campaign is succeeding.

My wife had worsening stomach aches for 5 years. Medical (drug, burn and cut) doctors kept giving her stronger and stronger antacids. They did every test imaginable. All told if I'd have paid out of pocket it would have run $15K for no results. The upshot? She went to a Chinese doctor. He said, "Not too much acid in stomach... the problem is not enough acid in stomach." He put her on 3X per day powder for a month ($50 visit + $40 powders). Stomach aches gone for 5 years now.

Same same my gall bladder. 3 years ago doctors say, "It must come out." Chinese doctor says, "Take this powder"($12 per week). 3 months later gall bladder cured.

Standard Drug and Cut doctors can do wonders for many things. For many others they are worse than nothing.

Your lucky you got the powder form. Our Herbalist is the real deal on Clement street in SF. Boil the sticks and twigs for an hour and try and gag down the cup of black muck, repeat nightly till out of paper bundles. I'd rather lick the floor of a porn theater than drink that stuff, but it works. Amazing his diagnosis ability. I had chronic sinus infections with years of antibiotics by western Docs, he felt my pulse in 4 places on my wrist and arm, looked at my eyes and throat then asked some random questions. Presto my sinus's are caused by a imbalance in my liver. I then went in for a physical and found out my liver count was 10 points above normal. 3 days of black muck and I didnt get another sinus infection for 6 years.

100 years of trying to synthesize nature vs. a couple thousand years of using nature, but the chinese are all quacks, just ask your western Doc.
