120 posts in a couple of hours. This thing is going to be a big hit. Imagine if Honda came out with another cruiser. I think you would hear the crickets chirping. KFraud didn't even pump up the post count, or we could have had 200 posts.

Cool but will not sell? What planet are you on? This thing is under $10 grand while the MoCo has waiting lists for $30,000 cool bikes which will (also) get circles run around them by 600 4's in spite of all the Screamin Eagle CVO stuff on them. Cool trumps "fast enough at the track" any day on motorcycle sales charts, in case anybody missed that.

BTW, for those who appreciate H-D Sportsters for the time machines they are (apparently not a lot of them here) you should be aware that the 1200R model in Vivid Black looks just as wicked, has the same motor with better suspension, and comes with things like tach, dual discs and a passenger seat for nearly a grand less. This is the model the $tealers are going to point you at because it's actually decontented and bound to have the most margin.

Uh... No. No they didn't.

Aside from being an "American Made" V-Twin, the 8 Ball is completely different than any Sportster. The Sportsters tend to handle better, thanks to chassis geometry that is close to a "standard" motorcycle, opposed to Victory's chopper-esque geometry. The Victory does however have better brakes and a larger/more powerful engine.

If you can't see the styling differences (black paint aside,) between the two, you should take up another line of work... say designing ashtrays for Boing.

Most of the problems you refer to were quality control problems that could be rectified. The 74 Sporty had some design problems....I wish i could remember more specifics but all I can come up with is some issues with the midyear right to left shifter change.

No...the early 74's had right side shift but they made a mid production year change to left side. I dont remember if problems were with both versions. Unfortunately Ive forgotten more about the old bikes than I remember....I remember just enough to be dangerous.

Just remember, pointing out how wrong the idiot is will now be termed as kbashing.

You can send my royalty check for picking the Kawasaki first to my address in Carlsbad. Maybe throw in a Team Green jacket.

They could make a "new model" which is the same bike but uses a Shovelhead motor...call it a Buz Bomb.
