Engine? You truly are blinded. LOL I'm blinded? Look, when HD makes what I like at reasonable prices I'll buy one and quickly remove any HD labels. LOL

Woooo, the archetypal big man on campus. Like every one else is a hod carrier. I'd say you define snotty. So I guess you ride a hardtail or whatever.

Default Re: Harley Stock Down Over Six Percent

So the stock is down: big deal. Ask yourself the following questions:

1. Is the Motor Companies PE ratio down, too?

2. Do you think the future is solid?

3. Do the youngsters aspire to own one?

4. Do the new products look good?

5. How do you feel about the experience when you go into a HD shop? Be honest with yourself here...this is the toughest part for a non-HD guy like me.

If your take is positive, a stock dip sounds like a buy opportunity to me. If their PE ratio also dipped and is more in line with the broad market, sounds like a buy opportunity to me.

You ARE going to buy and hold, AREN'T you?

And if your take is negative on the questions above, sell on the dead cat bounce....nudge, nudge.

Your wrong about the HOG elitism. Our local HOG chapter has many rides that only Harleys are allowed to go on.

FZR600?? Must have been a gift, surely you didn't buy it!!!

Look for the 1200R with the "flying bird" hood ornament (make sure you don't wave)!!

The Ducati 999 completes rather well with Japanese 4's in WSB and AMA SBK.

True dat, but then the HD engines aren't made for "performance first" either. They are, as you say, much more reliable.

I think people like them just fine the way they are made, they sure are selling a few of them

Of course, I would not be opposed to see what they COULD come up with...

It could also be that the 2 bikes are designed for completely different riding styles. Those who buy these cruisers aren't looking for the sharpest handling, hardest-pulling machines.

To that end, the exotic materials are simply not needed - they do what they do just fine.

Craftmanship is way up than a few years ago. They are very reliable machines now (as long as you don't crap up the machine with a bunch of hop-up parts, remove the rev-limiter, etc lol.

I would be perfectly happy with a bone-stock Ultra Classic. That's closer to my style of riding.

However, the Goldwing does both slow, relaxing rides and more spirited riding equally well for me.

And that is what it's all about. Pleasing yourself. I can't control what sopmeone else wants to do, and then again, I wouldn't want to. To each his own!
