Harley to do more rentals

I've owned a FXR and Fat Boy. I liked them. I don't even have ill will toward the HD Co. But, something inside me hopes there is a huge drop in stock/business.

My friends that own Harleys are quite possibly the most bike ignorant people I know. Nothing else is a motorcycle. Show them a picture of the Victory 8-ball, "buy an American bike, You don't want one of those Jap knock-offs"



The one thing that I am jealous of is thier ability to be happy as a pig in #$&% with one bike, THE ONE THEY OWN.

those who love HD will continue to love HD. Those who don't will continue to don't.



And this ain't the "downfall", just a slowing of growth rate. Plenty of greying boomers who aint a got there Hog yet.



As for the masses of greying boomers waking up to more interesting choices - don't hold yer breath.

I'm an old Low Rider guy but the newer versions have the slammed suspension. I beveled of the bolts on the underside of the exhaust brackets on mine and my suspension wasn't lowered.



The Superglide will be a little quicker steering because of the 28 degree rake versus the 32 degree rake of the Wide Glide/Low Rider. I miss mine.



I just returned from a 500 mile overnight jaunt with the new girl on the geezer glide and it was a blast. She'd only ridden on crotch rockets before. I think she has been converted.

I'm not trying to start a fight, and I agree with most of your statement, but some of us graying boomers have tried the other interesting choices and speaking for my self, have spent the last 25 years going from "customs" to Harleys to BMWs to sportbikes to sporty standards and now most likely back to Harleys..



Since the boomer geographic comprises the majority of motorcyclists in the US and a good percentage of them ride bikes other than HD, it seems apparent that not everyone of us lacks the imagination or knowledge to make more interesting choices. I freely admit theres a herd mentality among some of our classmates regarding certain brands, but you can't paint a broad spectrum with one brush stroke.



Anyway I've lost sight of the point I was trying to make, must be alzhiemers. You get that from aluminum beer cans you know...
