No one able to afford 15,000 bike is going to look at Hyosung? Of course they will. The day the dyno charts are favorable, and I suspect one day they will be, substance oriented people like myself will start parctising the pronunciation of "Hyosung".

The idea of HD pumping adequate amounts of money to be on top of the tech game, forget it. They had similar experience than Jag had with F1, big spending followed by embarrasment. HD is not an engineer lead company. For their managers "performance" means something else than the performance of their product. But they will keep selling for the poser oriented people, the guys whose value system prefers expensive hand winded Swiss watch over technically far superior Seiko.

I bought one as well, 2002 Fat Boy. I don´t regret it, its a good bike, comfortable and has been utterly reliable. But there isn´t a HD in the senior class. Upgrade from here is going to be Valk, Kawi 2.1, Rocket3 or VTX.

I agree that H-D is not an engineering-led company. However, only misguided corporate culture prevents them from becoming one. As to Hyosung, I still say the Japanese manufactueres will feel the pain long before H-D does...

Last year HD sold about 250,000 bikes. Honda, on the other hand, in the US alone sold over 1.5 million. World-wide, their sales are about 6 million. So how does HD outsell Honda? Fuzzy math? Honda makes more money selling replacement OEM car parts than HD does selling bikes.

Default Re: PAX Americana!

The fiat money whips the dollar not because its own merit (hey, even the guy running our economy is named Jean-Claude) but because the US keeps pumping 500 bn USD into military each year.

That´s a s-load of money. In motorcycle terms, if you´d buy Honda Runes with that money and parked them tightly side to side, there would be three rows coast to coast. Plus you´d surely get some sort of volume discount. At least you´d be foolish not to ask one.

Furthermore, military spending produces 80% of the swelling budget deficit with a current annual interest cost already 170 bn (one row tightly parked Runes coast to coast)

Also be alert for additional "off-budget funding requests" for Iraq effort, this year expected 70-80 bn. Could the US be Argentinazised? Expert opionion is divided, but your effort trying to get there is admirably persistent.
