It's way cheaper to hop an 883 than buy a 1200. For the same bucks, you can probably get 80 horsepower instead of 60. Most rubs haven't figured that out yet. I'd get an 883 project bike in a heartbeat, and empty my wallet at Zippers and Storz.

What if they used the engine in an Yamaha MT-01 type Harley. They could do something original Harley with good suspension, streetfighter/sporting riding position and they could get away with the engine weight. They wouldn't be accused of making a wanna-be sportbike. The MT-01s problem is the low horsepower, but the V-Rod engine might be just the ticket.

Giving customers what they want would have brought this bike out years ago. But I supose they did not want me as a customer then, but now are starting to listen to other potential customers.



As for brand loyalty, it only caries you so far. A change in fashions, or finance, can turn your loyalty off. HD built a customer base by selling a group mentality to alot of people (IMO), and by selling a quality product(s)

I never understood why the HD elites looked down on the 883. I allways thought it was a good bike, with plenty of potential to do anything ya wanted to the motor, from mild to scare the sh!t out of you.

My wife (5'2") wants a Hugger883. That's one reason I keep waiting for the used HD market to become reasonable again.

The group mentality is what started them on the road to success. 'HOG' made motorcycling social loooooong before the Honda Riders Club, RAT, Kawasaki Good Time Rollers or whatever else the others thought up. Most people don't want to do activities by themselves. They want to do it in a group with like-minded people. Lots of people bought Harleys and joined HOG as a social outlet, rather than a love of motorcycles. Their friends did it so THEY did it. Harley also pulled a PR coup in the 80's when they would buy back a Sporty for full purchase price for one year, when you bought a bigger bike from them. Imagine buying a VFR and riding it a year and then selling it back to Honda for full price if you purchase a GoldWing. Can't imagine that happening? I can't either, because it never will! LOL

Default stop me if i sound like broken record.

Buell. Yam MT-01 seems to have blatant buell influence, if u axe me. Unfortunately, it weighs a lot more and has a bunch longer wheelbase. I don't understand why anybody who's the least bit interested in H-D based sport bikes can overlook xb?
