Re: i was afraid of this
Yup, should be a good season.

Wish Corser could've done it on the three-cylindered Petronas bike. I guess he's coming back with a vengeance now.

Hope to see McCoy slide the triple onto the podium.

As for your protest, well okay, fight the good fight and all that.

I wish they would have went out of business back when they almost did. That would have saved me from having to look at all the moron socalled individualists everywhere I look and saved my ears from the tractor on steroids racket I hear everyday. At one point the old Ford Escort was the best selling car. That doesnt mean it was any good does it? Where was HD back when I was growing up terrorizing the streets on Kaw 750 triples and Z1s? They had nothing for a young man to get excited about then and very little even now. I still hope they belly up one day. Iam a hater you might say, yes I hate *****.

IMHO by far the best thing about the Harley renaissance is the number of semi-hot little 30-40ish Marin housewives who took up riding in black leather pants....

apparently that little act of upscale consumer social rebellion somehow activates their dormant "****" gene & has made the book store-coffee shop in Mill Valley into a primo meat market for MILF fans.

As they say, "it's an ill wind that blows no good".

Sometimes It's Better To Be Lucky Than Good
I donÂ’t really think the Harley marketing department is as full of geniuses as most would like to think. When AMF went away, all the new guys did was tap into a market that was already there but ignored. It seems to me, it was just a case of recognizing an obvious market, then playing to it.

When AMF held the reins there were countless Cruiser/Chopper-Culture magazines on the shelves, but AMF paid no attention. Also, the coming-of-age of the baby boomers coincided with the new Harley management, providing a ready-made, and hungry, market segment.

I think they did a great job; but itÂ’s not like the rubbed a lamp and made a Genie appear.

As far as getting people to buy antiquated engineering, that probably had more to do with baby boomers caring less about riding than image. Remember, we are talking about a generation who grew up with Easy Rider and various Hells Angels movies, so there was no dearth of rebel-wannabes out there.
