I think the new XB series is a pretty viable option, I also wish HD would really get behind them.

When it comes to marketing and branding Harley is unstoppable, Buell has the bike sorted out, now they need to push them out where people can see 'em

Well, if it's not a key earnings driver (which it's not - 10,000 units @ $8K / is only $80 million revenue, and probaby $16 million in net income versus $800 million for the company - or about 2%) then they wouldn't put it out in their press release. This is a corporate earnings release designed to market the stock, not their product set. Buell is relatively immaterial to their earnings, so it doesn't make it into the earnings release. From a non-motorcycle-enthusiast perspective, and from a financial point of view, it's just not relevant.

If Buell went away entirely, Harley would experience virtually no impact (in fact, they could get a minor benefit - I doubt it, but it's possible).

Sportbikes are a niche product for Harley.

This isn't really a motorcycle thread, anyway - whether Harley's rock or suck as bikes, it appears to be a well managed company generating impressive earnings growth. That's about all you can draw out of it.

That's just an illusion. They are hard to undertsand sometimes because they have a habit of looking over their shoulders frequently to prevent their wallets being pickpocketed by the local Alderman.

He needs that list. He won't bother trying to fleece them, because unemplyment checks just aren't worth the bother.

Now Seruzawa, you KNOW the Democrats here in Chicago would never do such things as steal elections, build patronage armies, have ghost payrollers, demand votes for city services. They are all upstanding and wonderful human beings. It's the Repubs that are the dirty rats of the country. You been in a cave or something? Just ask King, errrr I mean Mayor Daley.

True. I still think they need to paint, or glue, in this case, the Harley name on the tank and do some heavy promotion. Everone knows Harley, but few know Buell. The name has no meaning to the Average Joe. I don't the they are all the interested in doing anything to crank up the Buell products though.

I think it was the whole idea of HD buying Buell. HD wanted to get some of the sport bike market, but they don't want to offend their core clients. So HD wont be putting their name on the bikes. They can allways say "its a Buell not a harley".

I would like them to put their considerable marketing skills to work to raise the Buell name up further.

I would also like Buell to make a slightly larger sport tour bike that I can fit on better (more my style these days than a full on sport bike). Though the local Triumph dealer has a year old 955 Daytona at discount thats caught my eye.

I really need a rich relative to croak and leave me money.

Default Another profit center

For those living paycheck to paycheck you go the Payday Loan route.

Nothing like 350% APR to supplement the fleecing income. You write me a post-dated check for $100 and I'll give you $80 all day long!
