Ummm... I'm pretty sure the employees and their families do.
IMO, if it's good enough for Warren Buffett, then it's good enough for me.

HD won't sell. It may be bleeding money right now, but wholesale layoffs and cutting all the wasteful middle management will help. It's just a headline grabber. How many other places have you seen this news? When Willie says it's time to sell then we worry. Until then keep buying the clothes- they will scrap by for at least two more years on apparel alone.

"Ummm... I'm pretty sure the employees and their families do."
If they do, they better buy more Harleys and get their friends to buy more Harleys then. All the caring and worrying in the world won't change a thing.

Hey, maybe a bowling-ball company can buy 'em, and straighten out that management thing, like last time. Build a few Superglides...

If it wasn't for AMF Harley would be another name on the scrap heap. AMF gave us the cone motor, Supergilde, Low Rider, Wide Glide, FXR, Evo motor, XR1000...the list goes on. When AMF bought them they made FLH's and Sportster, when Vaughn Beals bought them back they handed them a fully modern line-up.

Anyone who knows anything about motorcycles knows that AMF saved HD, they re-structured the management into a team that gave the employees the tools to build a better motorcycle, and threw out all the lathes and boring bars from 1910 in one gigantic convulsive scrap-heap explosion, like popping a big boil full of rusty metal.
My '76 XLCH was AMF, and when I could start it, it ran just great. Of course I scraped all the AMF stickers off it for some reason, but wtf... You have to look at some REAL bad decisions the current mnagement (or should I say mis-management) made, like the MV purchase, the VROD, then they stuck that Rotax thingy in a Buell frame that pretty much threw out the whole idea behind a Buell in the first place. Just a few back-to-back miss steps in this new topsy-turvy economy and things can go bad real quick, as I'm sure HD is discovering once again, after reaping giant profits in the eighties and nineties. And paying old ladies $50.00 an hour to put tank stickers on didn't help much either...like a smaller copy of what brought GM down. Personally I like the forked rod devil, 1/10th of a radial aircraft motor. I hope they stay true to what an HD is, a modern antique. Just wish they'd put one of those brass Linkert's back on 'em....
