Harley To Stop Production For Over Three Months

Dealernews.com is reporting that along with the much reported 1000 person layoff at Harley-Davidson, the 'Motor Company' is planning to temporarily shut down their production lines from five to fourteen weeks.

I recall them doing this a few years ago during another slump. I think this one is going to be a lot deeper cut. Did you notice the VROD and Sporty lines are going to be down much longer than the rest? Wonder how XR sales are going?

Considering the ones I saw in the dealerships have a half inch of dust on them, I'd say not so good.

How DARE you sell this awesome American motorcycle to that filthy Eurotrash and deny red-blooded Americans their VTwin birthright? We DEMAND you bring this motorcycle AT ONCE to our dealerships. So we can ignore it along with the 1125R, the VRod, and anything other than the Big Twins we actually buy.

I had a customer purchase an XR at the dealer accross the street, he really likes it. More of a sportbike guy but loves the bike. He let me ride it and I must say not bad. Wouldnt own one but it deffinatly gave me a different attitude about the XR's,... nice ride!

I was just at the local dealer over the weekend. They had a shiny new XR sitting there. Typically the bikes the mags like and pant over are never great sellers.

Usually H-D has announced the following year's lineup by now. Nothing but crickets currently. I'm sniffing around an 09 Road Glide.

And I must add, there was an 1125R in white and it looked much better than the black. Maybe I was drunk. I can't remember now.

Excellent choice, the dark Blue pearl looks pretty nice.....

Must be something in the water here, XR1200 sell like hot cakes, dealers can barely keep them on the floor. There's at least three of them here at work. Of course Victory Visions are pretty common too. I've just about doubled my "Ace" rating in a few short weeks........
