I just emotionally bought my 18th bike. No amount of logic will help if you are too far gone.

Buy it. Offer less and be prepared to walk, even though you'll walk back later.

True. Speed is such a good laxative, especilly when you get pulled over by the man. That combined with the Viagra-effect of the V-vibes make for a perfect medical instrument/treatment. I wonder if my insurance co. would buy that excuse?

The Ducs are sweet bikes tho. Wouldn't mind a red S4R or the SportClassic Sport 1000. Maybe for my third or fourth bike.

Bikes are a passionate, emotional hobby. The thing is, you need to eliminate the emotion completely when making a purchase decision. You probably already know that buying anything on impulse will only burn you later.

If you've been looking for a long while, and this is the best deal out there (Doubt it!), than buy the high-mileage 748. But, if you've been looking for two weeks, and you're just getting a little jumpy, you should just tell yourself to cool off a bit and take a deep breath or two... or three. If this guy selling his Duc can sense your anticipation, he's going to take you for a lot more than the bike is worth... anyone would.

I STRONGLY suggest you ride a 748 and other sportbikes (R6 and 636) before making your final decision. Many people I know, including myself, have been head over heals for italian bikes that end up leaving them wanting a lot, once they got a little seat time.

And lastly, I wouldn't get a high-miles Duc, period.

Good luck.

y'know if it's your first one the MONSTERS are nice and plentiful and probly a lot easier to learn to ride on bec. u don't have to assume the position, like Minime once said, more appropriate to one's first day in prison...

and no plastic to destroy...

they make the same cool noise. and heck u can get a new S2R for like 8k.

The internet has changed economics greatly by something called "price transparency." Most people these days know what an item costs before they walk into a bricks and mortar store.

I was buying a nice watch for myself about a year ago. I was grinding on a salesman in a jewelry store in Las Vegas. He just wasn't moving enough on the price.

My next statement was, "Do you know what I can get these for on Ebay?" You should have seen the total look of defeat on his face.

I'm gonna go get a beer and tip it for Big Al.

Alright it sounds like I need to keep looking. Either that or buy the 2003 R6 I found for $4800.

Default Great idea.

I agree with I would of bought something like that for my first bike..Instead of putting slow newbi miles on my ZX6R, Wore off all those expensive Dunlops 208 right down the middle.. Right now I could hand that monster down to my daughter... Secretly I send my daughter web links to pages of women bikers. She liked Ashley's page...Monsters should have a pretty good resale value
