Where your analogy falls down is this... theres no problem parking the the F4 in the garage next to the V-Strom... but unless your interesting funny good cook wife is also unusually open minded ya can't bring your hot mistress home & give her a 4 point rug burn on the family room floor

Desmodromic valve actuation is what keeps me from considering buying a Ducati. Somebody should let Ducati know that valve spring technology really has come a long way...

Ah, but that would offend the "purists" and "cognascenti."

I'm with you. I'd sign up for one of those Classics if it weren't for the $300 valve job. I have a feeling the number of people like us far outnumbers any purists they might lose. I mean, jeez, you can't even SEE a valve.

Listen to the wisdom of Vlad. He nailed it. And I want to nail a Duc!

Yup. I think even the purists would get over the loss of desmo actuation after awhile. I can remember when another set of 'purists' screamed bloody murder when Harley introduced the Evolution engine.

Default 1000 miles and counting

I got lucky and didn't have to finance my '05 999.

I'm not a Ducatista.

Just a biker who was very curious about the 'mistique' of owning a Ducati.

I did the same thing with Harley Davidson.

Now I'm in the Harley family.

I hope to be having pasta with the Ducati family real soon!

I would have never purchased it if I wasn't:

a)50 yrs old and having that last "fling" with sportbikes.

b)looking for a " quadriplegic, crack-head, with Turrets"

c)willing to spend $390. for a valve adjustment (actual cost in N.J.)

besides, it's boring riding something that doesn't need constant maintenance? right?

Some may call me an idiot.

Some are envious.

Some just shake their head and say why.

I don't know what to say.

I'll let you know if I think I made a mistake in a few thousand miles.

When some of the girls at work found out I ride motorcycles they say the typical-- crazy, dangerous, your gonna hurt yourself. Then when they ask what kind and I say Ducati they say "when are you taking me for a ride".

Yep he did.

If you can do. Put on some aftermarket pipes to let the sound out and you'll get a tingle up your spine every time you ride it.

Hope you had the good sense to buy a Bi-Posto, so you can give the ladies a ride. If you're gonna spend that kinda money, at least, you should get some fringe benefits.

Gotta a friend, owns an ST4: Cost him around a grand, for a valve adjustment.

I told him, "Hope the kissed ya."

He said, they didn't; and, that the only thing that got any lubrication was the bike.

I was gonna ask him, considering how much his butt hurt, wasn't it uncomfortable, riding home; but, I figured he'd already suffered enough.

Still, gotta admit, Chicks dig 'em.

Butt, in the END, you get what you paid for.
