Nope:he's an entertainer going for bucks,just like Cruise,Evel,P-diddy,Madonna,Toby Keith,etc,.etc. Different styles,different gigs,different ratinalizations-----but same basic idea. He may have started for the thrill,but ya gotta pay the bills.

As I recall Buz Evel's jump was on either a Triumph twin, or an American Eagle twin wich was a re-badged Laverda twin.
