Ahhh... The joys of a mis-spent youth are the aches and pains of getting older. Fractured hip, destroyed knees and ankles, lousy shoulders, and carpal tunnel. Not to mention how many brain cells have been forced out by other bad decisions.

But, it would still be fun to try a Baja 500, or similar run, just to prove I'm stupid enough to try it.

If these guys really wanted to kick ass, they'd put a 600cc inline four motor in their bikes. Then they'd have the superior braking, handling and overall performance to dominate not just Paris-Dakar, but everything from daily commuting to Superbike racing.

An engineer told me so.

Best of luck to them. When I think of how wiped out I would get after 16 minutes of spirited dirt riding... I would definitely need a smoke break and few beers for some hardy pit racin' after that!!! Still... The Dakar Rally... the adventure! the fun! if they finish at all it would be beyond impressive to me.

Okay, so Paris-Dakar is sooo out of my league.

Anyone here done the Trans America trail? That's something I wanna do. Got back into dirt riding this year after a ten-year hiatus. Bought a DR-Z400S and been having a blast! Probably need a larger gas tank for the TransAm trail, though.

BTW, has anyone riddent the DR-Z400SM (Supermoto--check Suzuki's site.) Just when I was thinking of a Buell for my next commuter/fun bike. I bet the SM rocks!

Watched my son get Clobbered, after spinning out of a tackle, during a high school football game; said to myself...He don't know it, but that's gonna hurt...when he's 40.
