Default P.S. Thanks for proving me right again.

Thanks for the explanation about why an engine break-in period is needed. But it was a couple days/threads late. The GPTB won't like your answer though..

Default Re: Rebuttal to longride (Condensed version)

"gbrummett says it doesn't have enough high end i.e. it gets blown away by 600s down back stretch on the track"

Here's what he said:

My pro-racer friend has ridden my Buell at track days, and noone could touch him until halfway down a decently long straight.

So, genius, it appears that said rider on said Buell was killing the 600s in the curves. Only when the 600-mounted chimpanzees were able to oh-so-skillfully twist their wrists were they able to catch him.

Now, tell me, oh wise one:

1) Where can one take advantage of this straightaway speed outside of a track? On the street? Don't forget, Einstein, that "speed kills" and we have to "fly under the radar" and "protect our privilege to ride." Explain to me how those staightaway-fast sportbikes are superior STREET machines to the Buell. And I don't want to hear you use the word "track" again when hardly anybody rides on the track.

2) What's more fun - a bike that goes fast in a straight line, or a bike that's built for handling?

I know I'm asking a lot of you here, what with simple questions and all, but I thought I might give it a shot.

Actually it was the noise and high fuel consumption that killed it.. Just like the Sonic Cruiser that Boeing was going to build.. People like the speed but at what cost.

He didn't necessarily agree with you - and the people you're arguing with are NOT arguing against engine break-in.
