I'll bet H-D is still trying to recoup the development costs on the V-rod motor. Pure speculation on my part (as is much else in this thread) and I'll never really find out, but betcha I'm right.

Yeah, everyone with a mouth is gonna buy something until it comes time to get out the checkbook. Harley figured that out about 20 years ago.

I'd take your bet and raise you 20. I was going to say as much, but without any proof I really wouldn't say it as fact, but I would say your hunch is 100% correct.

It was a tough call...water cooling-dinette set....water cooling-dinette set.....

We went with the dinette set.

You are correct but you forgot to mention throttle bodies, which are very important.

And yes, the word is that a certain legendary designer with the initials MT is working on the, and I quote, "F5."

MTRHEAD,

You talking to me? Cause I never said the Buell would replace a sportster or really eat into their sales. That wasn't my point. My point was that Buell is now the sporty branch of the Harley family. This is what the Sportster was originally intended as before it was greatly outdistanced by the competition and relegated to the angry hefty lesbian bike that it is.

The basic engineering aspect of the motor came from HD. Porshe made it work and "cleaned up" the overall design to make it more compact ( i know it's still big) and efficient. Dare I say, that the motor casting & production if not already paid is close to it in the very least. It should only take 3 to 4 years for a design like that to pay off and V-Rods are 5 yrs into production now. Now HD just has to prove it can wedge that thing into any other bike they produce. Just think (I don't want to hear squat from air-cooled HD loyalist here) of a Geezerglide 1500cc v-rod motored bike. Tour bikes w/ 130hp and six speeds!

Don't 'cha know I got this Italian thing figured out since I started working at ATD. Man, I pay attention to way too many things. Just wish I could figure out a way to make money at it.
