'88 k100rs just purchased, currently have bias-ply AVON tires on it. I find the bike slipping even in moderate corners over the paint strips where my previous bikes never did. This is by far the heaviest bike I have ever owned, but I am putting the blame on the tires. Am I right, and what are good tires for someone who is trying to keep up with their friend's Gxxr's and F4's? Also, can i go to a larger tire on the same rim, and does/will it make a difference?

I rode an '85 K100RS for a number of years and had good luck with Metzler's and Pirelli's. Your best bet is going to be Pirelli Sport Demons or Metzler Lasertec's. Don't go over size and no, you won't keep up with a well ridden GSXR or F4, that's not what that bike is about. It will however burn up hundreds of miles at a very quick pace in comfort and style and probably last as long as you want to keep it with minimal maintenance. I put almost 80k on mine with no problems. They're excellent bikes.

Just don't forget that stickier tyres are going to wear out faster. The K100 isn't easy on tyres in the first place. You might try one of the sport touring tyres like the Avon Storm or the Michelin Pilot Road.
