Indeed, I recall that nothing ever fell off my two Harleys. It was all rusted solid. At least BM had the kindness to galvanize the bolts in the engine and exhaust hangers.

Everyone who has owned one tells me how bullet-proof and repairable they are and I believe it. I would really like to own a Boxer one day (BTW the F800R is not a Boxer ?). But in my market (midwest US) everything is cheaper including the Triumphs and Guzzis, not just the Japanese bikes. I had my eye on the R1150R and now I understand it is discontinued.

Now you've really got me started - Triumphs in the US are only 60 percent of what they are at home, and I live only an hour's drive from where they're made. How come a flight across the Atlantic works out cheaper than an hour's drive?

Seriously, about the R1150R. I know they've just been discontinued, but why do you have to buy new? There are loads of used ones about, and there's no better used buy than a BM. Are you expecting it to be worn out and ready for the scrapheap at two or three years old? I'd buy - and indeed have bought - used BMs with 50,000+ miles on them which have run well for years afterwards. Don't wait for another riding season to go by, just buy the thing. You know you want to.

The R1150R is a great all-around motorcycle. I clearly prefer it to the GS, especially when the appearance of the machine is part of the consideration. It is a classic.

Also, if you already have a klr or other gs, this roadster is lower to the ground for more comfortable street riding . . .
