It's the only new BMW since 1978 that I'd consider buying. Basic, and to the point. However, the pricetag is silly, so I'll keep the old airheads.

Seems like you could of substitute Buell for BMW and Ulysses for HP2 and publish the same article. Or did the HP2 come first?

There are 7 people in the world who can effectively ride the HP2 off road. The rest are posers. But, hey, I can pose and if you would be so kind as to gimme one, pose I would do.

The same could be said of virtually any sportbike nowadays. Anyone order that Yam R1 Limited Edition with Marchesini wheels for $20K???? |

The BMWRA have a one of these for a long term test. It's a hoot. Basically a BMW Hooligan bike! Saw it being put through its paces in Shelbyville a few weeks ago (there was a Ulysses there too). It and the Buell (which looks to be a hoot too) are very different (as one would expect) but for the same pupose - having fun. And as far as "HAS BMW lost the plot", was the Rockster or the K1200S not just as surprising? Sounds like BMW is trying to do what they do best, make the best bikes on the planet. They are just making them fun....for all, for a change....

I threw a leg over the new HP2 @ my dealer yesterday. Interesting ideas and execution, but the price. Holy S#**!!!! If you're an elitist enduro rider, then this is your bike. Thanks, but no thanks BMW. I'll keep my 640 Adventure for now.
