Well, the actual competition if the police thought out-of-the-box would be uprated DP bikes, of which you are starting to see a few (SFPD has some, as does berkeley PD).

Fresno PD just got 20 F650s for use in the urban environment. Nifty!

You are right about all your points, but I've heard safety is what really sells the cops. The bottom line is that ABS works and prevents accidents. In 2004, I'm surprised its not an option on more bikes. BMW first sold it in ... 87?

Had a chance to take an LT for a spin for the day and never did it. I like that new 1100, but the seating looks a bit tight. The GT I drool on, but it's tough to get a nice ride on one without buying it. I think the GT would be my ride, if I had the choice by looks, but ya gotta ride em for sure to decide. Hey, maybe I can just read articles and post links like Buz's girlfriend does! LOL

The RT looks a little stuffy. I dig that GT! Pricey, but I could see myself on one of those. The mags don't like it so much, which tells me it may be perfect for me. Plus, can you take your girlfriend back? She's following me around these days, because I guess she's unhappy you jilted her. Fix her up with Seruzawa at least to keep her busy.

I had an '85 K100RS and a '79 R100RT. Loved and rode the wheels off each one, When I bought an '02 R1150RT I thought I'd like it too but it just never grabbed me like the others did.
As a technical marvel it was impressive, but it just didn't seem to work as a whole. I guess I just like bikes that are mechanically and electronically simpler. When I was getting my new seat made there was a guy in there with a '91 R100RS that I though was pretty cool. I guess I'm just an airhead kinda' guy. I could see an air cooled RS in my garage as a play bike but I'm afraid the newer ones leave me cold. It's kind of funny because the older I get the easier it is to afford the latest and greatest, but I find myself lusting after old tech. air-cooled Euro twins and triples. |

She's threatening to let her account expire. One can only hope that happens. The first round is on me!

The triples are nice. A freind of mine has 2 of them. A 'C' for sporty riding and an RT for commuting. I keep telling him he needs one more to round out his collection. After all, neither of the two he now has sports a milk crate.

Is the "banana clip" the happy hour special down at the local watering hole?
