What an awsome package, one can only imagine what would have happened if instead of BMW bikes, they would have used this bike for the Daytona twins cup!

The fairing on that thing looks like a penis head.....or perhaps Darth Vader's helmet position when he visits the highwayman.

I know that Italian bikes are supposed to be 'sexy' but com'on. They should've just put boob-lights on the front and suzuki's LED tail light in the back for a complete package. Now THAT would be sexy.

This is perhaps the first atrocity-cycle that will be pleasing to the highwayman's eye.

I'll bet it approaches "ludicrous speed" though... As long as it doesn't go plaid on the long straights.

Now that you mention it, I do see the resemblance....

......but......

Penis head AND boob lights? A little gender confused, wouldn't you think? Might do OK in certain parts of California, New Orleans or the Village, but I don't see that image going over all that well in middle America!

I think this naked bike 'thing' is just a fad!

I don't think this v-twin 'thing' is going to last much longer either!

When I saw the web site, I was wondering what racing venue they had in mind. I speculate that they may well promote a spec class (along the order of the Boxer Cup, but probably more grass roots) in Europe or possibly elsewhere. Aprilia have done that type of thing before. I know ~8 years ago they had an Aprilia 125 cup in Switzerland (and elsewhere in western Europe, I believe) based on the street repli-racers. Like the Tuono, the bikes were sold with all street parts, as well as the racing conversion parts.

More recently they have run the Aprilia 250 Cup here in the US.

There must be a reasonably sized club racing scene where such bikes are popular in Europe, because Ducati Performance carry quite a few race-only components for Monsters.

With the growing popularity of more sporting naked bikes (such as the new Kwacker, the F1, Ducati Monster and now the Tuono) maybe a big time racing series for such bikes could be successful. Could have real spectator appeal.

Hey I predicted this a year and half ago. Folks said that KPaul is a nut. These are the replacements to cruisers for Gen X and Y. V-Twins will be around but not in racing.

Take a Mille... take the plastic off and call it a Tuono.

Take a Tuono and put some of the plastic and racy parts back on and then charge extra for it for racing?

No thanks, why not just by a Mille.

GenXers still want Harleys, no matter how much you might wish it otherwise. As long as the chicks get their jollies from that HD 45degree pulse, then the guys will continue to buy them.
