Default AMA Class C racing from the past...

They still allowed for differences...

1) 750 Flat Heads

2) 500 OHV

it stayed that way until Harley developed their OHV motor, then it became 750cc anything goes....

So... a couple of enterprising racers tried two stroke multis on the miles - the infamous Roberts TZ700, and the less well known Kanemoto Kawasaki 750 triple (riden by Scott Brelsford). Everyone got the crap scared out of them, and that was the end of that!

They were incredible to watch, I never saw the Yamaha, but I did see the Kawi at San Jose, the Harleys would be 3/4 of the way down the straight before the banshee triple would hook up, it would then proceed to slingshot past them at the turn, run wide crossed up to the locks, while the HD's motored by again down below. It was truly heart stopping to watch!

How about this ...

Open Source engine management software. If you don't show the code, you don't race. Any alternate table or mapping will show up as a subloop (if x, then y) and because it is public, everyone will get to see it and use it.

Engines are checked for hidden ROMs containing data that wasn't made public before and after the race along with the dyno.

Default Reality Check

Ducati will remain, but not in racing (depending on future rule advantages allowed). The Japanese manufactures have a distinct technological advantage. Use automobile manufacturing as a case-in-point. The Itailians cannot build a world-class car, but that does not mean they are not without merit. I would love to have a Ferrari, even though they have less dollar-for-dollar performance and actually lower overall quality than a Toyota Camry. It is time to stop perpetuating the myth of Italian "character" and force Ducati to start building better more reliable motorcycles.

Too late. I bought a new Mac Pro and am keeping the Triumph instead.

Kidding.
