Yeah. Oh, except the '05 GSX-R wasn't out for the '04 shootouts. And none of the shootouts were performed using factory race bikes, which do have small, but important, differences, such as approximately 30 - 50% more power.

Oh, and rider really doesn't matter on bikes - Rossi only beats the Ducatis and Hondas in MotoGp because that Yamaha is SUCH a good bike. But just his Yamaha. The second bike is toilet - but his is awesome.

Default Excellent.

You proved that shootouts are worthless. I couldn't have demonstrated it better. Thank you.

I've love to see him beat Mladin and take it all this year. It was a low-road choice (imho) when Mladin signed on to compete in the AMA for basically the rest of his racing life. Dynamics change when the biggest fish in the pond is suddently challenged by a transplant from another. And yes, it was nice to see Ducati running strong.

What? No I didn't.

I only attempted to demonstrate that superbike race results are a poor indicator of street / amateur track performance or desirability.

A shootout's value is not in delivering someone's opinion on what is the absolute "best" in some category. All the bikes in the various sportbike shootouts are very close in performance and usually are very good. At the same time, they all perform differently. They deliver power differently, they have different chassis considerations, transmissions, and behave differently in different circumstances.

The shootouts provide a "same day" basis for comparison for people that don't get to ride all available bikes all of the time. Regardless of who "wins" a shootout, the information in the comparison is valuable.

I agree that shootouts are useless for predicting race results, but for evaluating bikes to buy - they are interesting AND valuable (if you want a sportbike). And the MO shootouts have been for a number of years very accurate predictors of how all of these bikes actually handle.

Well I'm not going to lay the blame on the "biker" crowd. They don't go to Daytona to watch racing. At least they show up.

It's all the *****ing that goes on here over lack of racing coverage. Obviously these "die hard" race fans don't vote with their wallets when it comes to seeing live events.

At least the biker-types don't ***** about Speed not televising the tittyfest. They put their Harley on the trailer on drive there!

I got an (unsolicited) e-mail from him. Looked like an export from a blog. Something like, "Daytona Sux!"

You make an excelllent point. Mladin seems to me a headline seeker. Too bad someone didn't call him on this... Good catch...

Damn Buz, I was just going to ask how many people that cry about racing coverage actually attend a race. I attend at least 5 AMA events every year, and if all the crybabies did the same, maybe the sponsors and TV will notice? Hard to show a "big" event with 3000 people in the crowd.
