I doubt it. He knows a lot about riding fast, but I can guarantee you he does exactly none of the work on the bikes he races. Why would he need to know about tires?

I would rather have them race in the supersport class, since the racing would be closer and it would also even the playing field (somewhat) with the privateers. The worst thing you can have is a field with only 8 or 10 factory riders. It would also prevent the factory with the biggest racing budget from dominating the class with a ***** bike that they threw a lot of money at to make it go fast.

Of course he communicates with the tire guys. He rides the bike, then tells him what the bike's doing with the tires they provide. That doesn't mean he knows anything about how the tires are made, or what specific things (compound, number of belts, tread design, or whatever) to change on the design of the tires to make them work better. He's a factory rider, not an engineer.
I'd love to hear his comments. Go ahead if you get a response.

It most certainly DOES prohibit privateers. Do you think you could buy a production 600 and qualify within 90% of the pace that Duhamel is running in Formula Xtreme on his $100K factory Honda CBR600RR? I highly doubt it.
Look at the field in any of the Formula Xtreme classes. It's half the size of the Supersport field because very few privateers can keep up with a cost-is-no-object Honda factory 600 Superbike.
