Weekend Awesome - US Army Motorcycle Dispatch Rider Training
For this Memorial Day edition of the Weekend Awesome, we bring you WWII-era newsreel footage of U.S. Army motorcycle dispatch riders completing a training test. Riders were trained to handle different terrain to perform their vital role in keeping the lines of communications open during the war.
Soldiers received six weeks of training on their Harley-Davidson WLAs before having to tacklechallenging test courses such as the one in the newsreel.
