If you think the competition in MotoGP is fierce, then you haven’t seen what it’s like to race CBR250Rs in Japan. In this video, shot during the Honda Racing Thanks Day 2016, Repsol Honda MotoGP stars Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa line up alongside some of the best CBR250R Dream Cup racers Japan has to offer, at the Twin Ring Motegi circuit.

Yes, CBR250R Dream Cup is a cute name, but the racing is anything but. It’s a spec series with some up-and-coming racers all competing on identical Honda CBR250R. And if you’re wondering how popular the series is, look at how huge the grid is in this video.

The actual racing starts at the 16:40 mark, but there are other things to pay attention to before that point, particularly the local racers taking selfies with Marquez and Pedrosa on the grid before the race! The video is all in Japanese, but you don’t need to know the language to figure out what’s going on. Oh, and in case you think you know how the race will end up, check out the fierce racing below to see how wrong you are.

Troy's been riding motorcycles and writing about them since 2006, getting his start at Rider Magazine. From there, he moved to Sport Rider Magazine before finally landing at Motorcycle.com in 2011. A lifelong gearhead who didn't fully immerse himself in motorcycles until his teenage years, Troy's interests have always been in technology, performance, and going fast. Naturally, racing was the perfect avenue to combine all three. Troy has been racing nearly as long as he's been riding and has competed at the AMA national level. He's also won multiple club races throughout the country, culminating in a Utah Sport Bike Association championship in 2011. He has been invited as a guest instructor for the Yamaha Champions Riding School, and when he's not out riding, he's either wrenching on bikes or watching MotoGP.

93 pulled the bike and let them pass to have fun in the back. You can see that clearly. Otherwise he would have disappeared.
