With the short attention spans of today’s society, speedway racing seems like it would be a perfect motorcycle sport to hook new fans. Here’s a great example of the intense, bar-to-bar action on display in the pro ranks, this heat from the FIM GP event in England earlier this year. So much action packed into less than two minutes of battle! Anyone who thinks GP and Superbike riders get sideways while racing will need their sideways-angle calculator recalibrated.

That’s not as easy as it looks.

    • Goose

That looks easy to you? Damn.

  • JMDGT

    Wow! I am thoroughly impressed.

International Speedway used to play weekly on my local cable channel and even my wife loved it. We were both sad when it was dropped from the line-up. Crazy fast action! A friend (now deceased) raced Speedway in the Denver Colorado area and kept his Jawa-powered bike in the showroom of his ‘mom & pop’ used bike shop. Big single, alcohol fuel, no transmission, no brakes, rigid frame and (literally) rubber band front suspension. Elemental.

Speedway on Speed would get me through the winter until MX started up again after Moto GP ended. Now Speeds gone, WSB and GP gone to BEin somewhere I dont get. sux.

I really miss the Speedway track at Fremont Raceway, every Thursday night, yeah… that was some great racing!

My Uncle John raced in England in the 40’s and 50’s. I’ve been a fan for 65 years. These 4 riders are exceptional.

Some good folk across the pond regularly post up various meetings from the leagues in England, Poland, the World Cup, SGP, ect, on YouTube. There’s even more if you speak Polish, well because it’s the national sport.
