Teknic to go dealer direct

Partnership with Tucker Rocky has ended
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Apr. 22, 2008
Specialty Sports Limited, manufacturer of Teknic brand motorcycle apparel, is no longer partnered with distributor Tucker Rocky. The company says it will now sell dealer direct beginning with the 2009 model year.

Prior to the 2008 Dealer Expo in Indy, Tucker Rocky informed us they had made a corporate decision to go in a different direction with their apparel program, says Specialty Sports Limited CEO Chris Hayes. As a result we are now preparing to evolve into a new business model and distribute Teknic directly to select dealers. We feel that this opportunity will allow us to take full ownership of the brand from product conception through retail presentation with limited interruption of availability for the consumers.

Founded in 1992, the Rockford, Mich. company also manufacturers Coldwave brand snowmobile apparel. Coldwave products are distributed through Marshall Distributing and Specialty Sports Limited says that relationship is still intact.

Teknic and Coldwave products are available in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Russia and Japan.

Teknic sponsors several motorcycle racers, including Aaron Yates of Jordan Suzuki and Josh Hayes of Erion Honda.
