Russell suits up for Yamaha

Five-time Daytona 200 winner Scott Russell is joining the Graves Motorsports Yamaha Monster Energy team for the ESPN Moto X World Championships, April 12-13 in San Diego.

The man known as Mr. Daytona will ride a YZ450F in full team equipment alongside 2007 AMA Supermoto champion Mark Burkart and AMA Supermoto Lites champion Brandon Currie.

I started racing again this year with the help of Jamie James Yamaha Champions Riding School, but its been a long time since I raced SuperMoto, so I dont know exactly what to expect come race day, says Russell. I do know that Ill have a really good bike under me and I would like to thank Yamaha and Graves Motorsports for the opportunity.

Russell retired from racing in 2002 after suffering serious injuries at the start of the 2001 Daytona 200, but made several comeback appearances including this years Daytona race.

Russell is also slated to compete in the second ESPN round, July 31 to Aug. 3.

In addition to his five Daytona 200 victories, Russell has won a World Superbike championship and an AMA Superbike championship. In 2005, Russell was inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame.
