More than 250 riders are expected to take part in NASCAR driver Kyle Pettys charity motorcycle ride in July.

The 14th annual Chick-fil-A Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America will start in Traverse City, Mich. on July 13 and will finish in Savannah, Ga. on July 19. It will make overnight stops in Elkhart Lake, Wis., Lombard, Ill., Lexington, Ky., White Sulfur Springs, W.Va., Charlotte, N.C., and Peachtree City, Ga., for a total distance of 3,000 miles.

Since the charity ride began in 1995, 5,700 riders have traveled over 7.2 million miles and raised more than US$10.5 million.

The ride will raise funds for charities that support chronically ill children, such as the Victory Junction Gang camp. Petty and his wife Pattie founded the Victory Junction Gang Camp in 2004, to give children between the ages of 7 and 15 with various health issues the chance to enjoy the experience of camping.

The ride is scheduled to make a stop at the camp in Randleman, N.C. on July 17 during a camp session for children with physical disabilities. Riders will be able to meet 80 children who will be attending that camping session for free thanks to the efforts of last years charity ride.

Pattie and I are constantly amazed and inspired by the dedication of our riders, sponsors and fans, says Petty. These companies and individuals are truly committed to bettering the lives of deserving children and their families. Were looking forward to another great event - and more incredible results.
