JAMA sets 41st Tokyo Motor Show dates
The event organizer, the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), has announced that the 41st Tokyo Motor Show will be held from Oct. 23 to Nov. 8, 2009, with the doors opening to the public on Oct. 24. The show will be held in the Makuhari Messe in Chiba city, about 25 miles east of Tokyo.
The Tokyo Motor Show has been held annually from 1999 to 2005, rotating its focus from commercial vehicles to passenger cars and motorcycles. The show was also held every two years from 1973 to 1999.
In 2007, the event received a format change to become a comprehensive event to include parts, tools and machinery in addition to motorcycles, passenger cars and commercial vehicles while returning to a biannual schedule.
In a press release, JAMA says the 2009 show aims to be the most informative show about new products and technologies while emphasizing entertainment with audience-participation, hands-on events.
The 2007 show attracted 246 exhibitors from 11 countries and featured 77 world premiere exhibits. It attracted 1,425,800 people, making it one of the highest-attended motor shows in the world.
