Impressive start for the Buell 1125R
Axel Reimann and Ray Buchmann, representing a Buell dealer from Hannover, rode their 1125R to the podium, beaten only by a factory BMW bike ridden by Jürgen Fuchs and Marcus Barth. Team Buell Hannover received the bike only three days before the March 22 race, giving them little time to make preparations.
I am absolutely ecstatic. The 1125R is a quantum leap in output and performance, says Volker Schirmer, manager of Buell Hannover. The 146hp twin-cylinder engine, developed by Rotax to Buell specifications, is a perfect match for the best chassis that Erik Buell has ever designed.
Coming in fifth was team Buell Bonn under riders Julius Ilmberger and Martin Kratzer. Despite the impressive result, the team felt it could have finished higher.
With slightly harder tires, our chances would have been even better, says Andreas Binner, manager of Buell Bonn. But even so, I am really happy my boys have done a fantastic job and the 1125R is up for success.
The 1,000 km endurance race on the Hockenheim circuit kicked off the German racing season. This was the second professional race to feature the new Buell 1125R. It debuted at the Daytona 300 with a 25th place finish for Bruce Rossmeyers Daytona Racing team.
